Data is miserably slow. I also have roll over data, and they only roll over the measly 500mb not the full th of data I pay for, and don't use. Please find a better service you will be disappointed.

Unauthorized billing

Had service a few years ago. Stopped working so I eventually gave up on it.

Today I tried to log into my account to check the information. I clicked on the icon for $0.00 per month. It required paypal or a credit card. I chose paypal.

It brought me to paypal with a charge of $.01. I thought it must be required for activation (as companies do when they are checking to make sure the information is valid.) I accepted the charge for $.01. Immediately I looked at my email and noticed two charges. One was for $.01 and marked "pending." The other was for $79.99.

I did not authorize this and only saw it because the email. I went into my old Freedompop account info and there is no phone number, so service link, it is inactive, but sure enough, there is a charge today for $79.99. I have tried emailing and calling. Email says it will take a few days to look into it.

Calling only gives a recording if you need support. I finally tried calling into sales instead. I reached a live person, explained the situation, and she said she would transfer me to billing. As soon as she "transferred" me it brought me to the recording that I keep receiving.

The recording doesn't go anywhere- you can't leave information- it only says to go to their website. I tried calling back, reached another representative, explained what happened, she did the exact same thing. I have now left multiple emails for support but there is nothing else I can do. I have contacted Paypal to notify them of the unauthorized charge, but that says it will take a week to get back to me.

At one time FreedomPop was a valid service. Now it feels like this is a scam.

Received a charge without authorizing. Deemed "accidentally upgraded" but I only authorized a $.01 charge to paypal and instead was immediately charged $79.99 without being given any prompt to do so.

I sent them a message a week ago and I have not received any feedback till now, i deselected rollover service the day I activate 2 of my SIM, but they keep charging me since April, I'm asking refund for all of such charges freedompop is a very sneaky company, they start charging me an $3.99 add-on service which I dis-enrolled 2 months back.

Exceeded My Expectations

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I was skeptical about a free service actually being free. But I ordered the $0.99 sim card anyway. When it arrived I put it in my phone and set it up accordingly and it worked! I've had the service for months and it is truly free! Yes, you have the option of using a pay service but if you use the allocated amount of voice/data it is 100% free! The customer service is amazing. I had an issue when I went out of town and my cell wouldn't connect. I contacted customer service and in less than an hour I was contacted and the issue was resolved! I highly recommend!

Wants more credit card info

I had a freedompop wifi hotspot and loved it , where I work there is is no wifi. When I went to refill my account, they wanted a lot more personal info an d bank info. I use a prepaid card for all online transactions to protect my info. They said a prepaid cc would no longer be accepted due to Gov regs ? Why after 2 months and why do they keep sending me adds for special "sales"? I don't know if this is phishing or just a scam but they have never responded to ant text after I closed my account. mobile

Sorry service thru Freedom Pop!

Freedom Pop is full of *** sorry service, no live help unless you pay 5.00$ then the person don't speak clear English and keeps putting you on hold and never settle the reason for your call I would not advise nobody to put there money into any Freedom Pop services unless they just wants to get screwed for no reason thinking they are going to have a good cellphone service because they are out to get the best out of other people if you has friends that is talking about getting Freedom pop cell service that person to get a good greasing first for the long haul because on ce that person buys that refurbished phone from them they is going to be sick at the end .

New Customer Experience...Not Very Good

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Bought three phones from them this July. Out of the box was great except for a bad charging cable.

From there it goes downhill fast. Texting didn't work at all in the beginning. Apparently we were using the default 'Messaging' app that came with the phone and not the 'Messaging' app we needed to use but there was no indication of this. I kid you not, they have two apps on the phone and BOTH are named Messaging!

WTF! The only way to tell them apart is one has a white outside border and a blue inside. The other has a blue outside border and a white inside. Again, WTF!

Customer service is non existent unless you pay $5.99/month and then you get to speak to a live person. The alternative is waiting 5-6 days for an email response that may or may not address your issue. This initial setup frustration could be easily solved with 30 days of free support for new subscribers. I was ready to go back to my old provider before I finished wading through all the *** I'm getting calls from people saying they called me three times last night and I didn't answer, yet there is no indication in the call log that they called.

Am I missing calls??? I don't know. Voice mail was another gotcha. You get 30 days of free visual voice mail and after that it's $2.49/month.

Not the end of the world but it's like all the little annoying charges Comcast nails you with just to watch TV. After the trial FP still records voicemail messages and gives me a notification that I got a message, but I need to sign up for the service to retrieve it! I haven't found out if there's a free way to get the messages because...oh, yeah...customer service sucks. We won't even talk about the *** that is their website.

So, would I do it again? No. Would I recommend them? Only with a stern warning about the pain you will be subjecting yourself to.

I think they have a great idea and the cheap/free plans are great for casual users. If they rethink the customer service thing I think they could kill 75% or more of the negative reviews.

The 3 Huawei Y538 phones I got for $29.99 ea. were adequate for my needs and so far work great.

I have been using the 100% free service with this company. My only complaint would be that I do not have voicemail. I can't get messages people leave. I will have to go ahead and upgrade to get that feature, but its pretty cheap!

Straight up bait and switch company.

Original review Jun 06, 2017
I cancelled my account last year, number (503) 928-****, and today, whihle checking my debit card charges I find that they charged me US$0.01. I went into the freedompop account and find that my (cancelled) account started being used by someone in March 1st, 2017.

How the *** is that possible if I told them to cancel my account and made sure to BURN the damned sim card? You people are thieves. I don't care about the penny, it's the fact that you decided to just charge me for "account maintenance" for an account I DO NOT HAVE.

At this point, if you are willing to get sued over a Penny, feel free to let me know. I guarantee that you will not be keeping that penny.

Yes, agree with the lack of customer service. I was stuck in the same loop between sales that cut you off and transfer you to the recorded messaging that leads to nowhere and drops the call.

so frustrating. company seems shady at best. I am not trying to port my number back to my previous carrier. even porting my number back to previous carrier is difficult because of other reasons that appear shady.

so frustrating. wished I never did business with a scam of a company.

They did the same to me. My situation is same.

Cancel a year ago and now charged a penny for god knows what. Its not the penny...its the concept they are stealing from us. Contact their so call customer service. They ****ing put you in a loop.

Press 2 to talk to customer service. Enter your phone number or if you don't have one press #. Press # and it says, the phone number isn't in their data base. WTF.

Talked a human in sale, they say its not their department, they will transfer to support, i told them that don't do that because it puts me in a loop and I can't get any support.

They transfer me anyway. The frustration is real.

There's Nothing Free About It!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I bought a hot-spot device for $19.99, after check-out bought another for $9.99, good deal right? For some reason I have three accounts instead of two! Within the first month so far they charged me over $100. You'll get an email: "We've added $15 to your account to ensure no disruption of service", but I have 2 devices(3 accounts) which equals $45. From 5/29/17 to 7/2/17, 1 month and a few days, I've been charged well over $100. I only authorized for the 2 devices! I just checked my card and I have 4 charges between 6/27/17 and 7/2/17 of $84.96. Don't just BEWARE, Be Very Aware! There's Really Nothing Free About It! Dial-up is slow but at least I know what I'm paying!
