FREEDOMPOP FRAUD!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I ordered a kyocera cell phone with service. I waited 3 months for the phone top arrive, When I finally got it I had no service. I spent the next 4 hours on the phone with Freedompop at the 888-743-**** number just to find out they do not service my area.I asked for a refund, they refused. I asked why my area was on there coverage map and why they sold me the phone and service and they hung up. I have filed a FTC and fCC report. Buyer please beware this company has 1000's of complaint at the BBB also.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Never used the service. The device I have never worked. contacted them was supposed to get a new device. It never came. But they took 50.00$, out of my account. Imposssible to reach them, by phone or internet. You are supposed to have some free time and space, and as long as you don't exceed that it is free. contacted them in March 2015. Was supposed to get a new device, cause this never worked. But they haven't said anything about returning my money. I gyess I have to go to Attorney General of NY, Or the BBB. Can anyone help?

Freedompop knowingly sells freedom hub burst device knowing they will soon be useless!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Freedompop sold me a $100.00 freedom hub burst router, and internet service in June of this year knowing it would not work after Nov 6th of this year. I got only 5 months of service out of the device. Freedompop refused to get me any refund what so ever. I can't imagine how many people got ripped off buying their "freedom hub burst" home internet package. They offered a discounted new router, but tripled the price of the service, and doubled the price on the overage charges... Someone should file a class action lawsuit on this company for fraud.

My experience was worst. I bought into the 500-mb monthly "free" plan in March 2016.

It was not free as I paid $69.99 for the Overdrive Pro hotspot & $10 shipping! After 2 weeks, the FreedomPop technician acknowledge that in Nov 2105 that the Overdrive Pro hotspot was no longer compatible with the 500-mb plan and but the $4.99 plan was compatible! A clear bait and switch. I was on the phone for 8 hours with FreedomPop's supervisors trying to exchange for a device that worked with the agreed plan.

No go. It was hard sell to a costly upgrade.

So after 30 days, zero bits transferred, I canceled the account! Sign me up for the class action suit!

Yep. I just discovered my $100 device purchased in March of last year does not work anymore.

They want to sell me another device.

I refuse to eat this *** sandwich from FreedomPop. I have downgraded my account and am tossing the device in the trash.

Appalling customer service m......32 emails sent trying to buy a product you think they would respond to that at the very least. Please please please consider employing customer service phone operators who can understand and speak English. Never in my entire life have I experienced such poor customer service.

You're lucky you haven't gotten through to them or signed up for anything. I spent months trying to get charges on my credit card reversed because of these bungling scammers and they fought tooth and nail trying to keep my money.even though I returned their device back to them within the 30 day grace period.

Oh and they don't bother reading most of their customer emails but cause they get "too many" as has been said.

They prefer that their customers contact them on Twitter.

And if you manage to get through to them on the phone after a 40 minute wait on hold, expect to be given the run around.

My guess is that this is a small group of friends who got together and thought up a way of striking it rich with very little of their investment capital, and by hiring as few employees as the can get away with, and by making free use of CLEAR's data towers which are now being phased out due to the takeover by SPRINT.

From what I read online Freedompop which tries to hook customers by presenting itself as an underdog, cleared several million dollars in profit in the last year or two.

Really BAD Customer service

If you have HOURS of spare time to wait for a customer service rep. you may be able to get something fixed. We never did. They were a little nice on one call, but dishonest about battery replacement and phone transfer of our old phone. Very poor info on Our cellphone transfer. We never got the phone they sold us to work. Super slow on answering e-mails if at all, avoiding direct questions, We bought their phone, but never got one call through, charged for data time we never used, HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. Sound to good to be true ? Give them some more money or try another service. FreedomPop has problems, service problems, honesty problems, Etc. They are really hard to talk to, Wait and see. After spending over $230.00 we are back with our old Service. Thanks NO FreedomPop for nothing.

Freedompop - Phone Service Review from Robstown, Texas

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
activated four phones mine would call out from home wifi but would call out from nowhere else also would not constantly recieve calls anywhere at home or away. my granddaughters phones only worked occasionally whether at home or away usually with very poor results.although one did get the internet to work enough to go over the alloted plan usage resulting in a fifty dollar additional fee with no notice. my daughter could usually manage after so much tinkering to get her phone to work somewhat. as close as I can tell freedompop has no humans working for them and no customer service department as I have spent over three hours on hold waiting to talk to a customer service rep. so we deactivated one phone when my granddaughter moved to a location without wifi and we still have three fully activated paperweights laying around our desks by our fully functional cricket phones that work.

What you really need to use the internet/mismarketing

I got a device and it was supposed to be for x amount of money then when I tried to use it it didn't work because I needed an "upgrade" plan and they charged me for activating the "upgrade" though I had been reassured before purchase that it would work. So I then paid more for the upgrade than for the device. The wait when you call is LOOOONG. Then i got an Email saying they re ending the WIMAX something or another and it was sent to me as I am such a good customer and I am warned that my internet will be cut of 6 Nov 2015. When I call I found out that my device is supposed to keep working so why do I get a threatening email saying it will stop? It is just false and made to make money to pay 40 dollars for a new device that automatically signs you up for 20 dollars a month which I don't need I use it as a back up internet for travel. So mismarketing. Kind of like a cheap flight you can end up paying more at the end due to everything "extra" you have to pay for.

Freedompop Premium Plan Review

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I signed up for their premium plan (still cheaper than cox in my area) and over a month later, their tracker shows it is still in the 'kitting' stage. I still have no internet. I payed for rush shipping and was told I would have my device in less than a week, and it has been five. I need internet ASAP and will probably have to pay $40/month for cox instead of the $20 fredompop offers

No Never FreedomPop free internet an calls

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I spent $209.00 on buying phone and internet stick that never worked properly and within 1 month I decided to cancel service and return equipment. After so much fuss I was able to contact them, 35-minutes wait on phone. Eventually, the company issued a return info. I sent the equipment back and spent $18.90 for registered/return with UPS. This is now more than a month I never received refund or any communication. I called them again and emailed them and I received a call after several weeks to be put on hold forever. I reported to FTC no use. Now I am here because this site helped me with another issue. So it was a total loss of $468.00.

Freedompop? more like fraudem' Pop

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
This company requires a credit card on file, even for free service, for one reason, they will eventually take your money, even if the service is free, either through their own bogus charges or what happened to me as follows. Due to several problems I had with this company, I downgraded to the free service and suddenly my bank notifies me of around $200 worth of bogus charges on my card. I strongly feel the charges were made by Freedompop. Doing this to me benefits them in at least two ways. One, obviously, they get free money and a pretty good chunk of it. Two, I had to cancel my card and they know darn well I won't be giving them my new card number, hence they will close my free account since I have no card on file with them and get out of the bargain we struck. For this, and as I said, several other reasons I'll mention on other sites, stay away from these people. they are lying scam artists.

Claim free service, but to many hoops to jump through

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
So I heard that freedompop offers free internet and I decided to try it out. I got a hotspot for $15 a activated the device. Even though you start by choosing the 500mb plan they still sign you up automatically for there premier service. There was no way to downgrade their service online and doing it over phone you will be on hold for no less than 30 minutes. They eventually had a way to downgrade online, but still continued to charge my card. Last week I saw a fraudulent charge on my card and it now seems like it is associated with freedompop. You are not getting anymore of my money freedompop.

Don't fall for Freedompop internet

Wanted a mobile device to access internet. Freedompop sent me a Proton device (charged $29.95 plus shipping of 9.95). I only use internet to check email and occasionally get or return a library book on my Kindle. The first 8 days I used less than 1 Gig. Suddenly the next day they claimed I was 3.45 gigs and well over their limit for which I was charged another $10. After staying on the phone on hold for 45 minutes I reached someone who claimed it was correct...NOT POSSIBLE that I used that much in one short afternoon doing the same thing I had been doing every day. I cancelled the account and returned the unit for a refund. That was June 24th, they received it the 28th and the end of July I still have not had a credit. Dialing their customer service number is a L O N G L O N G wait on hold, and the number that it switched to indicated I was calling CHINA. These people are scam artists...rip offs. According to AT&T who I called, it was impossible for me to use more than 2 gigs in one afternoon doing nothing but email and library returns. DON'T BE SCAMMED LIKE I WAS. DON'T BUY FREEDOMPOP.
